The Bochum police are looking for strangers who threw stones at a train from a bridge. It was a coincidence that it did not lead to tragedy.

Since Friday evening, the federal police and the Bochum police have been looking for previously unknown perpetrators who, around 4 p.m. on Friday, threw at least two cobblestones from a Bochum bridge onto a regional express train passing through.

The stones hit the front window of the train, but it did not break: The train was stopped and taken to a repair shop.

A police spokesman said on Sunday that the window was impacted and could have been completely broken in the course of the journey.

The platoon leader was unharmed.

Witnesses wanted

Since it was not an empty trip, passengers were also on board.

These should not have noticed anything from the litter, as the police spokesman said.

Emergency services were looking for suspects - according to the information so far without success.

The federal police initiated criminal proceedings for dangerous interference in rail traffic and are looking for witnesses.

They are asked to provide information if they were able to observe people in the area of the railway bridge on Wittkampfstrasse between 3:50 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.

The train concerned was a RE 4 (RRX - National Express) on its way to Hagen.
