According to Edelstein's directive, the Ministry of Health will begin recruiting personnel for the expansion of the vaccination campaign, which began on Sunday, with the aim of reaching a rate of more than 100,000 vaccinations a day, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he intends to do today.

"The State of Israel is in a health campaign that has not been the same since the establishment of the state," the Ministry of Health said.

"In recent days, mutations have been identified that infect at a rapid and unusual rate that we have not yet encountered, and we are in pursuit of time. The more civilians and the faster we are vaccinated, the more lives will be saved. Vaccines will save us all.

At a cabinet meeting yesterday, Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen raised the possibility of extending the vaccination campaign to around-the-clock activity - and received support from professional sources.

In order to reach the destination, the Ministry of Health intends to recruit hundreds of medics, including reservists who have served as medics or paramedics in the IDF.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health this evening published an update regarding the state of the disease from the virus in Israel.

As of 20:04, 89,950 tests were performed yesterday - 3,340 of which are positive, so the rate of positive results stands at 3.8%.

It was also reported that since midnight, 52,355 tests have been performed to detect the virus, of which 1,696 have been positive, and thus the rate of positive tests so far stands at 3.2%.

There are currently 31,716 active patients in Israel.

920 of them are hospitalized, 156 in critical condition, 526 in critical condition, 190 in moderate condition and 122 respirators.

The number of medical staff in isolation stands at 2,873 people, 414 of whom are male and female doctors and 769 brothers and sisters.

The death toll from the virus in Israel is 3,170.
