Covid: almost 27,000 cases in 24 hours, over 500,000 sick

(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 12 - Coronavirus cases continue to rise in Italy, reaching almost 27 thousand in 24 hours, for a total of currently positive - the sick - which returns to exceed half a million.

Intensive care patients are now approaching 3,000.


    To be precise, the cases registered are 26,824 in 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Yesterday there were 25,673.

The dead yesterday were 373.


    369,636 eantigenic molecular swabs were performed;

yesterday the tests were 372,217.

The positive rate (positive / test ratio) today is 7.2%, yesterday it was 6.9%, so today it is up by 0.3%.


    There are 226 admissions to intensive care in the last 24 hours.

The balance between entries and exits is 55 more patients.

There are now 2,914 people in intensive care.


    In the ordinary wards (pneumatology and infectious diseases) the patients increased by 409 units compared to yesterday, bringing the total to 23,656.


    The currently positive, with an increase of 11,967 in 24 hours, are 509,317.

The discharged and healed are 2,564,926 (+ 14,443 compared to yesterday), in home isolation there are 482,747 people (+ 11,503).


    In total, 3,175,807 cases since the beginning of the epidemic in Italy, 101,564 deaths.
