(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 03 - The Chief Minister of the populous Indian state of Maharashtra, the state of Mumbai and which alone has over 114 million people, has warned that the lockdown will be imposed if the inhabitants no longer pay attention, do not comply with the precaution and the data of the contagion from Covid-19 will not drop in the next few hours. In the last 24 hours, the state has had almost 48,000 new cases compared to 81,000 registered in the whole of India: the highest figures since last December.
"Consider this a warning: I could enforce full unlockdown in the next couple of days if they do the same," Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray threatened.
In the same state, the city of Pune has imposed a curfew on religious sites, restaurants and hotels. (HANDLE).
