BOLOGNA - The Tiberius Bridge is two thousand years old and in view of the celebrations, the symbolic monument of Rimini - together with the Arch of Augustus - begins to celebrate the date by entering the list drawn up by 'Dove Viaggi' - il sito di viaggi of the 'Corriere della Sera' - on the 15 historical bridges to be admired around the world.
The Roman jewel is remembered together with monuments such as the Sant'Angelo bridge in Rome, the Ponte Vecchio in Florence and the Bridge of Sighs in Venice.
Begun in 14 AD under Octavian Augustus and completed in 21 AD under Tiberius, the bridge will be at the center of the 'Festival of the Ancient World', now in its 23rd edition which will celebrate it with a series of initiatives starting from 7 July, in Wednesday and Friday evenings, in addition to the weekend of 24 and 25 between lectio magistralis, live, soundscapes and digital narrative that will take place in the Piazza sull'acqua, invaded close to the bridge.
"The Festival is the natural setting to welcome this important anniversary - observes Giampiero Piscaglia, city councilor for Culture - with a series of initiatives and events that, due to the pandemic, will be proposed in an unprecedented organizational formula with various summer events, distributed in July and set outdoors ".
The Festival will continue also in autumn with the presence of Massimo Recalcati and a moment of scientific study with the presentation of the volume dedicated to the bridge that will mark the conclusion of the celebrations.
