"There were 130 of them. They are people, they are human lives who for two whole days have begged for help in vain: help that has not arrived" (ANSA)

"I confess that I am very saddened by the tragedy that once again took place in the Mediterranean in recent days: 130 migrants died at sea. They are people, they are human lives who for two whole days have begged for help in vain: help that does not has arrived ". So the Pope at the Regina Caeli. "Brothers and sisters, let us all ask ourselves about this umpteenth tragedy. It is time for shame! Let us pray for these brothers and sisters and for the many who continue to die in these dramatic journeys. We also pray for those who can help, but prefer to look from a other part. Let us pray in silence for them ".

"Please get away from vanity, from the pride of money: the devil enters your pockets, think this." Thus the Pope to the nine priests ordained in St. Peter's. "Be poor, as the holy faithful people of God are poor - he said in the homily -. Poor people who love the poor. Do not be climbers. An ecclesiastical career ... so you become an official, and when the priest enters to do the entrepreneur, of the parish, of the college, he loses that closeness to the people, loses that poverty which resembles him poor and crucified Christ, and becomes an entrepreneur, an entrepreneur priest, not a servant ".
