A powerful biopic on the black panther Fred Hampton with "Judas and the Black Messiah", the chilling discoveries of the Mexican journalist

HISTORICAL DRAMA.

In the intimacy of the Black Panthers

At 9:05 p.m. on Canal +.

It's not every year that you get to see an Oscar-winning film the very day after the ceremony, and that's one of the few benefits of the pandemic.

“Judas and the Black Messiah,” produced by Warner Bros, was due to hit theaters earlier this year.

But, for lack of open rooms, it was "sold" to Canal + which has the good idea to broadcast this unprecedented one after the 93rd Oscars which allowed Daniel Kaluuya and HER to respectively win the statuettes for the best supporting actor and the best song.

The film examines the personality of Fred Hampton, a major figure in the African-American militant movement Black Panthers, who was killed in 1969, when he was only 21, during an assault led by the FBI and the police. in his apartment in Chicago. The same Fred Hampton who is also one of the witnesses of the trial of the "Chicago Seven", film also in the running for the Oscars and visible on Netflix.

Be careful, “Judas and the Black Messiah” is not a biopic in the traditional sense of the term: its central character is William O'Neal, a petty thief who will be hired by an FBI agent to infiltrate the Hampton movement.

In doing so, we are witnessing "from the inside" to the rise of the Black Panthers, embodied by a determined Fred Hampton, whose film, which wonderfully recreates the atmosphere and the colors of the time, delivers an intimate portrait. and powerful which makes it most endearing.

We only have eyes for Daniel Kaluuya, just remarkable in what is, of course, only a supporting role, but a very big supporting role… justly awarded an Oscar.

In Mexico, investigating can cost your life

The Forbidden Stories collective, which seeks to continue the work of their threatened or murdered colleagues, seized on the case last year.

For ten months, 60 journalists from 25 media outlets around the world have worked to uncover the synthetic drug manufacturing networks that allow cartels to make staggering profits, to point the finger at illegal European arms sales to the United States. corrupt Mexican police, to shed light on the untold practices of politicians who have covered the disappearance of tens of thousands of citizens under their mandates ... The human body fingers in the nose

“The extraordinary powers of the human body: all about the mysteries of taste and smell” allows us to better understand the functioning of our senses.

Elephant & Cie

At 9:05 pm on France 2.

If only to see Adriana Karembeu sniffing Michel Cymes' armpits, you have to watch this unpublished issue of “Extraordinary Powers of the Human Body” devoted to smell and taste. Very informative, the magazine dissects the complex functioning of our senses. The experiences there are surprising. We now have proof of this: the weight of a spoon, the color of a plate or the shape of a cookie influences our taste perception. Parents will certainly be delighted to learn that their children, between the ages of 2 and 6, have a very good reason to refuse to swallow broccoli, parsnip or pumpkin: their little body is afraid of being poisoned.

The elderly, for their part, see their sense of smell decreasing.

While, in the prime of life, we are able to discriminate 1000 billion odors!

We also understand why taste and smell plunge us with precision into childhood memories.

And how brands manipulate our sense of smell to push us to consume ...

THRILLER.

What a beautiful bastard!

The plot of the thriller "An Ideal Man" intelligently revisits the theme of literary deception.

Jessica forde

At 9:05 p.m. on NRJ12.

Mathieu, 25, dreams of himself as a writer, but his manuscripts are regularly refused by publishers.

While working as a mover, one day he stumbles upon a manuscript while clearing a house.

And appropriate it.

The work is published and praised.

But a mysterious blackmailer appears ...

This "ideal man" is a beautiful bastard.

If the plot of this thriller based on literary imposture is classic, it reserves many twists and turns suspense from start to finish.

Strong point, the interpretation of Pierre Niney who, one month before the release of the film, in March 2015, had received the César for best actor for his role in "Yves Saint Laurent".

EDITOR'S RATING: 4/5
