International competitions do not always have a good press among musicians.
However, they still play an essential role in the making of the French classic stars.
Queen Elizabeth, who has just started, is a good example.
The man who revealed Brigitte Engerer in 1978 and Frank Braley in 1993 crowned French cellist Victor-Julien Laferrière four years ago.
And the latter recognizes that there was a before and an after.
If the Belgian competition is very publicized, it is far from being the only one to serve as a springboard for the French stars.
