The “Bavaria plays” campaign is intended to bring art and culture to the municipalities in the Free State in the open air in the summer.

If the politicians give the green light, this year Kaspar from Brandner, Marei and Boandlkramer will be inscribed on the illustrious list of artists who have played on the square.

The Free State wants to "make art and culture directly tangible, tangible and visible with a variety of events," as Art Minister Bernd Sibler (CSU) announced.
According to information from the “Münchner Merkur”, the start of the nationwide cultural summer program will take place on June 29th on Königsplatz, which will be the backdrop for art and culture for six evenings - with a signal effect for other municipalities, the organizers hope.

The authorities are still working on the permits, but the makers are now working intensively on the program. What has become known so far promises to be diverse - with a real classic at the end, which offers at least as much spectacle as the show of a rock band: On July 4th, Christian Stückl's long-established cult production “Der Brandner Kaspar und to see eternal 'life'. The premiere at the Volkstheater was 16 years ago - since then, the wonderfully lively production with Maximilian Brückner as Boandlkramer has been creating enthusiasm. “We're all really looking forward to it. The Residenztheater sends "The Three Musketeers"
The “Three Musketeers”, more precisely: their horses, are also looking forward to it.
The very free and animal-loving adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' novel by Antonio Latella and Federico Bellini sends the Staatsschauspiel to the Königsplatz.
"It will be a challenge for us to adapt the staging for an open air", says Ingrid Trobitz, the deputy director.
"But our actors are very happy to take on the challenge and are happy to be part of 'Bayernplays'."
The kick-off on June 29th will be organized by the Kammerspiele.
The house wants to finally catch up on the performance on Königsplatz that Barbara Mundel's directorship should have started on Odeonsplatz in October: “What is the City but the People” is the name of the urban space project based on an idea by Jeremy Deller.
"This performance is a programmatic part of our work, in which we actively approach and involve the Munich city population," explains the director.
“The production has something connecting and brings people out of isolation.
It questions who we are as a community and offers around 150 Munich residents a stage. "

But “Bavaria plays” not only theater, but also music - on the Königsplatz on three evenings. The people in charge of the Muffathalle will curate one of them. Groups of the independent scene deny another - this is where the talks take place; Names have not yet been determined. What is certain, however, is that the Münchner Symphoniker want to rock the Königsplatz together with the band Dreiviertelblut around Sebastian Horn and Gerd Baumann. Both formations have cooperated several times - "the emotions that are conveyed at our joint concerts are powerful, unique and have a long lasting effect," says orchestra director Tilman Dost. “We look forward to celebrating this wonderful concert moment with a hopefully large audience on Königsplatz.” How many people will be able to experience this is open.250 guests are currently allowed at events in the open air - 450 fewer than at an opera evening in the National Theater. The cultural summer makers hope that this will change with the next infection protection ordinance. The Ministry of Art will present the plans in the next two weeks. The musketeer motto already applies to Bavaria's cultural scene: "One for all, all for one."
