(ANSA) - KABUL, AUGUST 09 - The Taliban have taken control of another provincial capital in Afghanistan, the sixth since the beginning of their offensive: it is Aibak, in the north, the local deputy governor said. Aibak, in northern Afghanistan, is the sixth provincial capital to fall into the hands of the Taliban in just four days. "The Taliban have captured the city of Aibak and have complete control over it," said Sefatullah Samangani, deputy governor of Samangan province, of which Aibak is the capital. "Last night an elderly senator surrendered to the Taliban" and today the notables asked the governor to withdraw his forces from the city to avoid fighting, and the governor accepted, added his deputy.
