The Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, returned to the country this Tuesday, after her trip to Russia and on the same flight,
650 thousand new Sputnik V vaccines
arrived in Argentina
.
In addition,
500 liters of the active principle
arrived
to formulate new doses in the country.
Upon getting off the plane, the head of the health portfolio referred to the controversy of the "5 million vaccines in refrigerators", of which the infectologist Eduardo López had spoken.
"There is no vaccine in the refrigerator," she
said categorically when asked about the issue.
"We are applying quickly, we have had weeks with more than 2 million doses applied," he added.
And he told "everyone who is waiting for their dose or their second dose" to "rest assured that we are working" to receive it.
Vizzotti had traveled to Russia to
speed up the delivery of doses of the Sputnik vaccine
, of which there is still a shortage in the country, especially Component 2. On this occasion, 250 thousand of the 650 thousand that arrived on the flight with the minister, they are second doses.
This Monday a new controversy was unleashed in the country, after the Government adviser infectologist, Eduardo López, described as "failure" the fact of having "5 million vaccines in refrigerators", in reference to the doses that are already in the country and that were not applied.
"It is outrageous. Because having 5 million doses stored in the refrigerator is a failure of the system of those who have to administer vaccines. The best vaccine is the one that is placed in the arm and the worst is the one that is not placed. It is a problem that the jurisdictions could not really explain, "said the specialist, given the imminent spread of the Delta variant.
