He was one of our favorites.
With already four participations to his credit in the game of TF1, Freddy returned this Tuesday evening in "Koh-Lanta, the legend", seven years after his last adventure.
The body cut like never before, this sympathetic engineer had put all the chances on his side to shine by following a training as intensive as long.
However, thunderclap, fifteen minutes after his arrival on the beach in front of Denis Brogniart, he embarked on the test of the obstacle course and fell on the penultimate obstacle while he was leading the race.
Evacuated by the medical team, he will not return.
Freddy is nonetheless proud to have been part of this anniversary edition.
Did you really train for twenty-seven months?
FREDDY.
In fact, I had been contacted by the production of "Koh-Lanta" in January 2019 to participate in "Island of heroes"
(Editor's note: toured in spring 2019 and broadcast in spring 2020).
I then decided to attend a “boot camp” in Australia, where I had been living for a few years.
It was a training camp run by the military for three months.
In the end, I couldn't do this “Koh-Lanta” for personal reasons.
But, I told myself that for the 20 years, there might be something so I have continued to train since.

What did this training consist of?
I returned to France in October 2020. I live in a house in the countryside in Berry and I set up an obstacle course in my garden with bamboo to work on my balance, ropes everywhere to train. on the monkey bridges… I did a lot of swimming in a pond near my house.
As the pools were closed this winter because of the Covid, I trained directly outside in water that was 4 or 5 degrees!
When you arrived on the beach in Polynesia and discovered the other candidates, what was your reaction?
I wanted to be the strongest by far.
When I discovered the others, one by one, all more prepared and sharpened than ever, then I said to myself:
Good Freddy, just win the tests, it will already be good, no need to fly over them
.
I think I could have really done well in this edition.
I really wanted to share an adventure with Sam, Candice and Clémentine in particular, among the candidates that I did not know yet.
What happened on this obstacle course?
It's a stroke of bad luck.
I was in the lead when I got injured.
We were loaded with two 5 kg bags and, on the monkey bridge, there is one that unbalances me and pulls me towards the ground.
When I catch myself on one of the ropes, it tears my arm.
My universe collapses at this point.
I tried to leave, but it was not possible.
In the end, the medical team came to pick me up.

Did you immediately understand that your “Koh-Lanta” was over?
No.
I only thought I twisted a muscle.
It is when I arrive at the hospital and we notice on the radios that my shoulder is dislocated that I tell myself
that it does not smell good
.
Then when a doctor put my shoulder back in place, the pain suddenly disappeared.
I thought I was upset again, but after the painkillers wore off the pain kicked in.
The next day Denis Brogniart told me that I will not be returning to the game.
What was your reaction ?
Tears came to my eyes.
This training for this show represents so much sacrifice: it was not a piece of cake.
I haven't even finished a test, I haven't eaten a coconut, I haven't set foot on the camp.
It was really hard to take, but it was a serious injury, I had seven weeks of immobilization.
Despite this premature departure of the adventure, you do not hesitate to promote the show ...
Because it remains a pride to have been on the starting line of such an edition!
I got hurt and no one can help it.
Even though my adventure was brief, I'm happy I did.
What are your plans today?
I quit my job as a computer engineer in Australia at the end of last year. I am preparing a round-the-world trip with my partner in a truck and we set it up ourselves. You have to build the living unit, make the interior plans, make it as autonomous as possible, it's a full-time job.
