She is one of the greatest singers of the 20th century who has just left us.
The immense Polish soprano Teresa Zylis-Gara died on August 28.
She was 91 years old.
The Warsaw National Opera immediately paid tribute to her:

Her friend, the Polish tenor Wieslaw Ochman, with whom she sang at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and La Scala in Milan, praised, with unfeigned emotion, her immense talent on Polish radio.

Working with her and listening to her, I suddenly had a revelation,”
he recalls.
She sang the same notes as the others, but she knew how to discover under the notes treasures of humanity and joy.
She was the only one who could bring this to life.

Teresa Zylis-Gara was born on January 23, 1930 near Wilno in Poland.
His gifts are revealed very early on.
From the age of 9, she joined the Lodz Higher Music School.
In 1954, she won the first of the competition for young Poles in Warsaw.
Already noticed, she made her debut on the stage of the Krakow Opera in 1956.
Her international career took off in 1962. She was hired by the Dortmund Opera.
For more than twenty years, she will show her talent on the most prestigious stages in the world, from Garnier in Paris to La Scala in Milan, including of course the famous New York Met, where she will sing for twelve years.
