(ANSA) - MILAN, 08 SEPT - Twitter has started testing one of the first innovations, part of a new series of updates aimed at privacy.

As we read from the tweet that confirms the function, it is the possibility of performing a 'light block' of followers, which can be implemented by anyone.

In practice, users can be silenced temporarily, without completely removing them from their list.

The feature is currently being tested on the Twitter web version but should arrive on the iOS and Android app soon. According to the post sent by the official account of the microblog, and referred to Dominic Camozzi, Private Designer of Twitter, you can remove the followers from the list of the page on the profile. Just click on the three-dot menu next to a follower's name, then on "Remove follower" and the reciprocal tweets will no longer be displayed in their respective boards.

This is a 'soft' operation because it is different from totally blocking someone, which also prevents direct messages from being sent. The new feature is, for Twitter, a "gentler way to create some distance between you and someone else".

This is just the latest move to give members more control over their online activities. In fact, the option provides the opportunity to set the audience that can respond to their posts, choosing from 'all'. 'who you follow' or 'just who you mention'. However, this requires a manual configuration for each tweet and not a permanent 'rule'. (HANDLE).
