The Taliban released a new "religious guideline" for the media calling on Afghanistan's television channels to stop airing shows and soap operas featuring actresses and journalists to wear Islamic hijab while presenting their reports.
The new directives to the media have been issued by the ministry for the promotion of virtue and the prevention of vice.
The TVs are also asked not to broadcast films or programs that show the Prophet Mohammed or other revered figures.
"These are not rules, but a religious guideline," said ministry spokesman Hakif Mohajir.
