A chilling scene.
A video, captured by a witness, shows two teenagers suspended in the void on the fourth floor of a New York building ravaged by flames.
The boy and girl, aged 13 and 18, try to escape the fire in an apartment by climbing up a window.
They are then seen descending the four floors of the building, sliding along a pipe running along the facade of the building, thus saving themselves from mortal danger.
They have minor injuries but are unharmed, police said.
“With other neighbors, we were yelling at them to go to the side and get out.
Everyone was trying to do their best, ”video writer Justin Malpica told CBS New York after the drama.
