In the shadow of the ongoing struggle to curb the spread of the corona in general, the Omicron variant in particular, the Ministry of Health announced this morning that the infection rate today is the highest since September 5. • Earlier today, nine MKs were forced into solitary confinement after being exposed to a verified patient

The Ministry of Health published this morning (Sunday) the currently updated morbidity data regarding the spread of the corona virus, which shows that the infection coefficient, R, continues the upward trend that indicates the spread of the virus and stands at 1.14.

This is the highest infection coefficient since 5 September.

According to the data, 372 new carriers of the corona virus were identified in Israel yesterday, constituting 1.05% of 74,102 new tests performed.

It was also noted that the number of active patients stands at 6,772, of whom 81 are hospitalized in critical condition and there are 39 respirators.

The number of people infected with the virus since the outbreak in Israel is 1,354,929 and the number of deaths is 8,232.

In the shadow of the ongoing struggle to curb the spread of the corona in general, the Omicron variant in particular, the health ministry has updated the data relating to the vaccination campaign in Israel.

The number of Israelis who received the first vaccine dose is 6,446,980, the number of recipients of the second vaccine dose is 5,823,587, and the number of recipients of the third vaccine dose - the booster - is 4,152,521.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that due to the fear of the corona trial in the Knesset, and following an epidemiological investigation conducted by representatives of the Ministry of Health, a government minister and eight Knesset members were placed in solitary confinement in light of one of the Knesset channel letters.

Last Friday, four workers at the Mishkan were found positive, one of them with high suspicion of Omicron.

A statement issued by the Knesset Spokeswoman stated that the isolation operation of Knesset members - Gilad Karib, Merav Ben Ari, Gadi Yabarkan, Yom Tov Kalfon, Kati Sheetrit, Musi Raz, Moshe Tor Paz, Hemed Amar and Simcha Rotman - was done as a safety factor whose purpose was to try to cut the contagion chain. .

We also noted that there is concern that the verified patient that led to the isolation of Knesset members carried the Omicron variant.
