Overturned trailer loses 18 tonnes of liquid manure - basement filled up

What a bummer: a tractor trailer overturned in the Münsterland in the spring.

Thousands of liters of liquid manure flowed onto the street - and into the cellar of a residential building in Horstmar in the Steinfurt district.

The basement was about 40 to 50 centimeters high, said a fire department spokesman.

In total, about 18 tons of manure leaked out.

The trailer had tipped over in a curve, as a police spokesman announced.

The slurry tank hit a carport, which resulted in a total loss of three vehicles.

The 23-year-old tractor driver was slightly injured, it said.

The road has been blocked.

The emergency services on site had sucked the manure in cooperation with specialist companies from the street and pumped it out of the basement, said the fire department spokesman.

This largely prevented further spread.

The iguana that was a croissant

The employees of the animal welfare association in Krakow, Poland, shouldn't forget this mission in April: a woman had alerted the rescuers, as the association describes on Facebook, about an apparently threatening animal.

The "creature" lurking on a tree turned out to be something else on site - namely: a croissant.

The woman had therefore turned to the association because the alleged animal had been sitting in a lilac tree in front of her house for two days.

"People don't open their windows because they're afraid it will come into their house," said the desperate caller.

The animal rights activists considered that it could be a sick bird of prey.

The caller spoke of an iguana.

When they arrived, the animal rights activists discovered to their astonishment that the animal had "neither legs nor a head" and that it was rather the said pastry.

In its - not very seriously written - contribution, the association made it clear that this was not a belated April Fool's joke - and pointed out that it was better to alert the experts once too much than too little.

Entrepreneur dismantles new building facade with excavator

With an excavator, a building contractor in the Black Forest apparently deliberately damaged a new building complex with around 30 residential units in the summer.

This resulted in damage of around half a million euros, as the police announced.

As the reason for the destruction in Blumberg (Schwarzwald-Baar district), the 47-year-old allegedly named wrongly withheld payments by the client.

Probably out of "frustration," as a police spokesman said, the man with the tracked vehicle tore down several balconies and destroyed parts of the building facade.

He also damaged garages that had gas bottles on them.

The police cordoned off the area widely, according to the information, as the damaged containers may pose a risk of explosion.

"There were no people in the building, but the action attracted around 50 onlookers," it said.

After the destruction, the contractor sat in his car and drove away.

Shortly afterwards he reported to the police.

79-year-old goes off against the opponent in a retirement home with pepper spray

In a retirement home in Oberstdorf, a conflict between two senior citizens escalated at the end of August.

At first there was a verbal argument between a 79-year-old and an 86-year-old - then the younger one resorted to the irritant spray, as the police said.

In addition to the 86-year-old, three other residents were slightly injured in the attack.

Medical treatment because of the respiratory tract irritation was not necessary, it said.

The 79-year-old was reported by the police.

Humming razor triggers large-scale operation

Because an 85-year-old left his rucksack at Nuremberg Central Station, around 50 emergency services arrived in mid-September, including bomb defusers.

The reason was an ominous noise, as the police announced.

The potential source of danger then turned out to be an electric shaver.

Deutsche Bahn employees had previously called the police because of the softly humming baggage that was hidden behind chairs.

As a result, large parts of the station were closed and train traffic on several tracks was stopped.

An hour later, the 85-year-old came back to his luggage.

He was able to describe the rucksack to the police officers and was thus identified as the owner.

Officers then found the vibrating razor in the bag.

Trains were delayed due to the deployment, and 15 shops had to close temporarily.

Man is looking for a hotel room at the police station

An error with consequences: a man in Lower Franconia inquired about a room in the wrong place at the beginning of October - and ended up in prison instead.

The 49-year-old had appeared at the Würzburg police station, the police said.

As a result, after he was told that he was on a guard and not in a hostel, he still refused to leave.

The police then checked his identity.

It turned out that there were two open arrest warrants against the man for minor offenses.

The man could not pay the 3,000 euros that would have averted a fine.

"So for him at least the problem with looking for a room had been settled," the police report said: "The man was allowed to move into a cell at the police station for the rest of the night." he "got a room for 150 days".

Fake policeman wants to control real civil investigators

A man in an olive-colored uniform with a police badge and a blank gun in his belt holster was out and about in Braunschweig in autumn.

The 25-year-old also drove a vehicle equipped with blue lights and checked people, the police said.

The man was therefore noticed by witnesses who informed the police.

The officers were initially unable to find their supposed colleagues on site.

Until a civil investigator with the words "Stop!

Stop! ”Was asked to stop and illuminated with a flashlight, as the police announced.

The wrong cop was found out.
