It is necessary "to immediately provide for a further extension of the shock absorbers with the cause of Covid and the blocking of layoffs, to prevent an employment crisis from exploding in the first days of the new year which, up to now, we have managed to avoid".

This is what the trade, tourism and service unions Filcams-Cgil, Fisascat-Cisl and Uiltucs are asking, arguing that without the extension of the measures expiring at the end of the year "employment and income for over two million are at risk. of workers in tourism, the tertiary sector and service contracts, still affected by the crisis ".

The collapse in tourism demand "comes after more than a year and a half of great difficulties in the sector, which has already led to the closure of many businesses and the downsizing of medium-large enterprises. Despite massive use of social safety nets, employment is heavily decreased, especially in the components of young people and women. All of this has a direct impact on the retail distribution and on the contracted activities of both sectors ", affirm the trade unions. "The process for approving the Budget Law has now been defined, which, despite repeated requests from trade unions and employers' associations in the sectors involved, does not provide for any provision on the matter, now it is essential - they conclude - to intervene to support workers and businesses at least until June next year ".
