Zwickau lost its Trabi world record two years ago, but couldn't let it sit. 20 women squeezed into the car to get back the record - with success.

Zwickau officially has the Trabi world record back.

At the beginning of September, 20 young women had squeezed themselves into a pastel-green Trabant.

Experts have now confirmed the record in the “Most people in the Trabant 601” category.

"After a thorough inspection and review of the video documentation, we recognize the new record of 20 people in the vehicle," says record judge Olaf Cake Becker.

The certificate from the record institute for Germany will be sent to the Inter Trab association by post.

Record already set in 1976

In Zwickau, where the Trabi was originally built, the record in this category was set for the first time in 1976 with 17 people.

But two years ago he went to Brandenburg: In Altlandsberg, 18 young women from a dance club climbed into one of these small East German cars.

As a result, the Inter Trab club set out to recapture the title last year.

20 athletes squeezed into the interior and trunk of the Trabant.

The record institute compared the stacking with the computer game Tetris – it was that close.
