Covid-19 in France: 417 new deaths, 3,577 patients in intensive care

Although the incidence rate has been falling for eleven days now on national territory, hospital services are under strong pressure in France and are still welcoming more patients.

According to the latest report from Public Health France, a total of 33,447 Covid-19 patients are treated in hospital.

They were 33,027 the day before, and 32,374 a week ago.

The occupation of critical care services, units reserved for patients with the most severe forms of the disease, is down very slightly compared to the previous week.

3,622 people were still welcomed there on Monday, against 3,577 on Sunday and 3,700 a week ago.

417 new deaths have also been reported in the past twenty-four hours, according to the health authority.

Since the start of the pandemic, more than 132,000 people have died in France.

Nearly 30% less contamination over a week

All French departments (including overseas) recorded a drop in the incidence rate this week.

While the incidence rate still remains at much higher levels than in the past, this is the first time such a drop has been recorded since November 27, 2020.

Last week, 242,900 cases of contamination per day were recorded, which is equivalent to a drop of 28% compared to the previous week.
