In Berlin, the process of a serious car accident with three dead began.
The driver, Omran H., who was the only one of the four young men in the car to survive, has to answer for an illegal motor vehicle race with a fatal outcome and endangering road traffic.
In front of the Berlin district court, H. expressed regret and explained that he "must have somehow lost control of the car."
The 22-year-old expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
The car with four occupants between the ages of 19 and 21 initially crashed into trees at high speed in the late evening of February 2, 2021.
Then the car crashed into a construction container with such force that it tore and burst into flames.
According to the indictment, the driver had previously accelerated to at least 150 kilometers per hour in a 30 km/h zone in difficult road and visibility conditions.
A young man died at the scene of the accident, a second a few hours later.
The third occupant was initially taken to a special clinic with severe burn injuries.
The 19-year-old succumbed to his injuries there on February 6.
