Yuga Labs, the creator of the famous NFT monkeys from the digital art collection Bored Ape Yacht Club, has raised $ 450 million in a funding round to build their own metaverse.
The company, which is now worth an estimated $ 4 billion, had sent $ 2 million to Ukraine's cause in the past few weeks, half from the group's coffers and half from user donations.
With a tweet, Yuga Labs has lifted the veil from Otherside, a project that will be launched in April and which, according to its proponents, contains various activities within it, including a metaverse and a video game.
In the short presentation clip on social media, one of the characters in the guise of a monkey can be seen carrying out various ups and downs with a background of "Break on Through" by The Doors.
Yuga Labs is also the owner of CryptoPunks, another successful NFT series, as well as Meebits.
"We know we can create a new economy with the intellectual properties of Apes, Punks, and Meebits," Yuga Labs CEO Nicole Muniz said in a statement.
"The possibilities for the impact of blockchain on culture are endless, and so we are building a beautiful and interoperable world to explore and play. There is a lot to do."
Coinciding with the launch of the Yuga Labs coin, owners of the NFTs of the Bored Ape Yacht Club series have obtained thousands of free ApeCoins, which will be used to purchase products and services in the Otherside metaverse.
As a result, the value of ApeCoins increased up to 90% on March 24, its second trading day.
