A Lidl campaign on Monday gave reason to expect a "beat like in a western saloon".

And in fact, the first unsightly incident happened in the morning.

Update from March 21, 2022:

Lidl actually has flour on offer in some regions this Monday.

And this despite the fact that it is currently a scarce commodity that is sold out in many supermarkets.

Some people (see original article) had therefore expected a “banging like in a western saloon” in advance.

It is not known whether there was actually a fight.

However, a Facebook user documented an unsightly incident around 8 a.m.

"At Lidl Rheinstraße, the hamster purchases are starting again (unbelievable, something so unreasonable)," he writes.

And shows what he means with a photo: around ten packs of flour can be seen in another customer's shopping cart.

The authenticity of the picture is of course not confirmed, but there is little doubt about it.

And of course the background remains unclear - it's possible that it's a pizza baker who fears for his existence, so hasty judgments are inappropriate.

In any case, some people interested in flour went to Lidl on Monday.

"My mom doesn't hamster, but we're still in front of Lidl before it opens and we go individually so that everyone gets 2.5 kilos of flour," wrote a Twitter user.

And as other Twitter users discovered, Aldi and Rewe should also have flour on Monday – at least regionally.

Did some back fans finally get started again?

Update from March 19, 2022:

Does Lidl actually have flour on offer from Monday, in the middle of the flour shortage?

Or was the campaign withdrawn?

That remained unclear at first (see first report).

Because the whole thing appears in the brochure and the app, but not on the homepage.

At the request of our editors, Lidl is now providing clarification: "Our brochures on the Lidl website only show our national offers," says the company.

“We offer the product 'Diamant Wheat Flour Extra Type 405' in individual regions, for example in eastern Germany.

The individual offers in our household leaflets therefore differ from region to region.” In this respect, customers should refer to the regional brochure to find out what the supermarket branches actually offer.

In Munich it is the product "rose flour".

Regionally, flour is actually on offer at Lidl on Monday.

It remains to be seen whether the supplies will last long and customers will not go home disappointed.

It wouldn't be the first time such incidents have caused trouble.

Lidl: Does the offer on Monday ensure "Klapperei like in a western saloon"?

And does that even exist?

Neckarsulm - Flour and vegetable oil are becoming scarce in many places in Germany.

Other foods could also be in short supply now.* One reason - in addition to people's buying behavior - is the well-known war in Ukraine: since Tuesday (March 15) there has been an export ban on wheat, rye and barley from Russia, Ukraine is an important producer of wheat in Europe.

Against the background, a supposed Lidl offer is all the more remarkable.

Lidl: Flour on offer from Monday?

A Twitter user posted the discovery on Thursday (March 17) - apparently after a tip from her mom via WhatsApp.

“On Monday there should be baking ingredients at Lidl, including a 2.5 kg sack of flour.

Who's coming and watching the hustle and bustle when the shop opens Monday morning?

I'll bring popcorn too," she wrote.

A flour offer from 21.3.

in the middle of the flour shortage?

That promises to be really crowded.

"I don't do that to myself," writes a follower.

"Could be funny," it says.

And a user says: "Oh fine, a brawl like in the western saloon.

We urgently need another piano.”

Lidl: Flour offer not (anymore) found in the online brochure

But there is a catch: Lidl may have stopped the offer.

In the digital prospectus on the discounter's homepage, there is no flour in the prospectus between the macadamia nuts and the fondant - unlike the Twitter tear-out.

But actually in the prospectus that was distributed in Munich, as our online editors discovered.

And still in the app on Friday afternoon.

However, there you will not find flour from the Diamant brand, but from another: rose flour.

Is there cheaper flour on Monday or not at Lidl?

That will probably only show up in the branch.

A possible explanation for the confusion: Lidl could offer flour on March 21 well in advance.

have planned, and supermarket brochures are known to be printed in advance.

Now the discounter may have had to stop the flour campaign due to delivery problems.

Our editors asked Lidl to clear up the confusion.

The email went unanswered as of Friday afternoon.

Another customer recently complained about the Lidl aisle - and a photo makes it clear why.
