After thirteen years the Kenyan Benjamin Kiptoo's limit falls (2h07: 17) established in 2009. The decisive moment a couple of kilometers from the finish of the Imperial Forums, on the cobblestones of the last stretch, when the winner manages to stretch against his compatriot Tadesse Mamo Temechachu, second with the staff of 2h07: 04.
Third place in 2h07: 16 for the Moroccan Othmane El Goumri, favorite of the eve, author of an attack that frays the group after an hour and a half before remaining detached at the 39th kilometer, but in all nine athletes descend under two hours and ten minutes.
Double for Ethiopia who also won the women's race.
It is a triumphal solo for Sechale Dalasa Adugna, in the lead alone for over half the race, setting a personal best of 2h26: 09 despite a decline in the final part.
The podium is completed by Kenyan Gladys Kiptoo, 2h28: 45 making her debut over the distance of 42.195 kilometers, and the other Ethiopian Nedi Tedelech Bekele (2h31: 01 PB).
In an Italian key, the first at the finish line is the Roman Luca Parisi (Atl. La Sbarra), twelfth in the men's competition in 2h20: 40, while in the women's one Paola Salvatori (Us Roma 83) closes eighth with a time of 2h49: 17.
