Food: Censis, the desire for conviviality and 'away from home' returns

(ANSA) - BOLOGNA, MARCH 28 - After the long season of restrictions linked to the Coronavirus emergency, the desire for conviviality and the taste of lunch, dinner or an aperitif 'away from home' is back.

This is what emerges from the Report 'The economic and social value of Horeca distribution in post Covid-19' created by Censis in collaboration with Italgrob, the Italian federation of Horeca distributors, i.e. Hotellerie-Restaurant-Café and presented at the Rimini Fair during the Beer & Food Atraction.



Based on the numbers of the research over the last two years marked by the pandemic, 68.2% of Italians have experienced painful moments spent in the bars, so much so that, it is highlighted, 71.1% of the population will return with the same homage to having breakfast out. home in bars or pastry shops;

68.9% will return to eat at the restaurant or in an entertainer;

65.9% will return to consume aperitifs and 'aperitifs' in wine bars, wine bars or brasseries.



Furthermore, 21.7% - the percentage rises to 40.9% as far as young people are concerned - intend to attend more convivial places: already today 88.4% have lunch or dinner out and 64.5% of meet up with friends and colleagues for an aperitif.



The 'away from home' food supply chain counts on 3,800 companies, more than 60,000 employees and a turnover of 17 billion euros before the pandemic.

The Horeca distribution platform, which connects the food and beverage industries, sees over 300,000 public establishments in the area, guaranteeing that conviviality, considered an important element for the quality of life: if 89.1% of Italians consider the places outside the home a source of work and income, for 88.3% the presence of bars, cafes, pastry shops, wine bars and restaurants is important to ensure the good quality of life while for 68.8% the presence of public establishments makes the places safer and more accessible .
