Dangerous bacteria were discovered in a candy.

The product is being recalled, and those who are already ill must report it to the health department.

Sinzheim - "Sudden diarrhea, headache and stomach ache, general malaise and occasional vomiting", according to

fectionsschutz.de

, these are the symptoms that threaten in the event of an infection with the pathogen that Kosebate GmbH found during its own checks in confectionery that has now been recalled.

The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety is now also warning of the Alburj brand product.

Recall: Contagious pathogens in confectionery - product has been in circulation for some time

To be precise, the product is "Alburj - Halva with extra pistachios (800 grams)" with the production date 07.02.2021.

According to the manufacturer, this sweet delicacy was noticed in self-monitoring;

According to Kosebate, there were "deviations from the product specification" in the factory with regard to the goods.

It's not the first time halva, which looks like white nougat, has been the subject of a recall.

Recall: Contagious bacteria in candy - infection causes reporting obligation

According to the manufacturer, salmonella was detected in the Halvas sample.

These bacteria multiply in the gastrointestinal tract of animals and humans and are particularly easy to transmit.

In particular, cross-contamination, i.e. contamination of previously unaffected food, happened quickly.

Thorough hygiene is therefore important.

The bacteria can trigger what is known as salmonellosis, a gastrointestinal disease known as “the classic food infection” according to the Robert Koch Institute.

This is particularly dangerous for children and the elderly, pregnant women and people with weak immune systems.

Severe, sometimes life-threatening illnesses can occur.

You can find more details in this video:

Since the disease can sometimes be protracted and the infectiousness can last for months, those affected are obliged under the Infection Protection Act to be reported by name to the health department.
