(ANSA) - PARIS, APRIL 17 - "Better a vote that stinks than a vote that kills": with this slogan tens of thousands of protesters, many unopen supporters of Emmanuel Macron, took to the streets today in Paris and in the rest of France to lose "no to the far right", eight days before the second round of presidential elections, which sees the outgoing president in a ballot against Marine Le Pen.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, 13,600 people mobilized in more than 50 demonstrations in the various regions of France and 9,200 in Paris, while the organizers claim almost 40,000 participants in Paris and 150,000 people throughout France.
Among the most popular parades was that of Marseille, where Macron spoke today.
In Rennes there were incidents involving far-left protesters and the police during a prohibited demonstration.
An authorized demonstration against racism and fascism instead took place without incident in another part of the city.
Scuffles also broke out in Paris at the end of the demonstration between the police and hundreds of people.
With the launch of bullets, a bicycle and the burning of bins on one side, launch of tear gas on the other.
