“The ballot boxes have decided,” announced Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
Coming third in the first round of the presidential election, the leader of France Insoumise spoke following the announcement of the re-election of Emmanuel Macron as President of the Republic with 58.2% of the vote.
At the podium, Mélenchon noted "very good news for the unity of our people".
But he underlines it, the abstention will have been very strong: "Now, Mr. Macron is the most poorly elected of the presidents of the Fifth Republic", noted the unsuccessful candidate of the first round.
This evening, he also wanted to call on the French to vote for him in the legislative elections which will be held on June 12 and 19: "You can beat Emmanuel Macron and choose a new path (…) The third round begins tonight" .
