(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, APRIL 27 - The delivery times to Turkey for the second game of the Russian-made S-400 missile defense system have been extended.
The head of the presidency of the Turkish defense industry Ismail Demir made it known to the state TV TRT, as reported by Hurriyet, in reference to the missiles purchased by Ankara in 2017 whose first load was sent from Moscow in 2019.
"Turkey continues to put in he practices the decision he took from the beginning "said Demir, explaining that technical talks were underway for the transfer to Turkey of the second batch of S-400s, already agreed with Russia at the time of the purchase but whose delivery times have extended.
Ankara's decision to buy the missile system from Moscow created strong tensions with Washington which decided to exclude Turkey from military cooperation on the production of the F-35 fighter jet.
According to the US, the Russian missile system is capable of damaging NATO by being able to detect detailed information compared to F-35s.
