Disability: Travel expenses for private trips are tax deductible

New regulations for tax returns for people with disabilities have been in force since 2021.
Private trips can be deducted at a flat rate.
Travel expenses can actually only be deducted from tax if they are incurred for business purposes.
People with disabilities can also claim private trips.
The category of "disability-related trips" also includes trips to the shops or to authorities.
Such journeys are tax deductible in addition to the disability allowance.
Under certain conditions, proof of this is not necessary.
Disability-related journeys: 900 euros flat rate tax deductible
Since 2021, people with disabilities have been able to deduct
a flat rate of 900 euros
from their taxes
for travel expenses .
Previously, this was only possible for really unavoidable journeys.
The requirements for this are as follows:
If you have a walking disability, a
degree of disability of 80
must be entered in the disability card.
The mark "G"
for, which identifies the person as "significantly disabled", must have a
degree of disability of 70
.
In these cases, no proof is required for the tax office.
It doesn't matter which vehicle the journey was made with.
Travel expenses by car, taxi or public transport can be deducted.
Travel allowance can be increased to 4,500 euros
In some cases, the travel allowance for disabled people can
even be increased to 4,500 euros per year
.
The condition is that one of the following marks is specified in the disability pass:

– extraordinary walking disability
Bl
- blindness
Tbl
– deaf-blindness
H
- helplessness
