(ANSA) - PORDENONE, MAY 06 - "The reform of the electricity market is fundamental: the recent escalation in the price of natural gas of electricity makes it necessary to accelerate the development of new electricity production capacity from renewable sources".
Thus the president of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi, in a conference.
"The threefold purpose of this reform is to promote a mechanism for the enhancement of electricity production by untying the price of energy produced by renewable energy from that produced by gas, to reduce our dependence of the gas supplier on geopolitically unstable countries, and to achieve decarbonisation goals".
Bonomi defined the objectives of decarbonization as "challenging".
The ambition is to be able to create "a market capable of promoting renewable production of over 70% by 2030 in line with the objectives of the Fit for 55 package", he added.
"For some time now, Confindustria has formulated proposals on both the conjunctural and strategic levels that aim at strengthening the energy autonomy of the country, guaranteeing the survival of the industrial sector and protecting its competitiveness", he continued.
"Some measures, although indispensable, must be integrated with initiatives and decisions at European level; in particular, interventions are needed to stem speculative maneuvers on energy markets and CO2 emission quotas. In this direction we asked for coordinated regulation of prices; the objective remains a price a regulated gas municipality that keeps the continent safe from supply and industrial competitiveness from abnormal economic conditions very different from real supply contracts ".
