Yasen Petrov stepped down as coach of the Bulgarian national team following yesterday's 5-2 loss to Georgia in the Nations League.
"I have no moral right to stay. We will separate. I take full responsibility," Petrov told public television BNT after yesterday's game.
Petrov has been at the helm of Bulgaria since January 2021. Georgy Ivanov will temporarily replace him at the helm for the team's next two away games, June 9 against Gibraltar and June 12 against Georgia.
"I am sorry for Yasen, but football is like that. I will be the coach of Bulgaria for these two matches," Ivanov told local media.
After two Nations League home games, Bulgaria have just one point, five behind League C Group 4 leaders Georgia.
