On the occasion of World Environment Day, the activities of the annual conference of the Higher Institute for Environmental Research entitled “Only One Earth” were launched today at Tishreen University in Lattakia, which includes, over two days, a number of environmental topics.

The Dean of the Higher Institute for Environmental Research, Dr. Hajar Nasser, indicated during the opening speech the importance of reviving the occasion of World Environment Day to protect the Earth from environmental dangers, in addition to the need to live sustainably with nature through the settlement of cleaner and greener lifestyles, noting that the conference will include an exhibition of modern and applied industries that depend on On green chemistry, cleaner production and remediation of nature's pollution.

In turn, the Director of the National Center for Energy Research, Dr. Younis Ali, explained in a video speech that the center's participation in the conference comes through its role in promoting the state's policy in the field of sustainable development in the energy sector through rationalization, raising efficiency and the use of renewable energy.

For his part, Iranian Cultural Attaché Ali Reza Fadavi referred to the cooperation between the two countries, which have important capabilities that allow them to strengthen bilateral relations in the fields of research, education and technology, stressing Iran's determination to continue to stand by the Syrian people in the process of reconstruction and building what was destroyed by the war.

Dr. Yassin Al-Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Reayati Agricultural Development Company, noted the importance of advancing the agricultural reality through the use of modern technologies and the investment of human cognitive energies, pointing to the importance of aromatic plants as a vital and important source for the Syrian environment.

The President of Tishreen University, Dr. Bassam Hassan, explained that the conference presents the research output during the year and presents the best scientific findings in the field of environment and environmental research.

During the conference, a number of graduate students who excelled in external publishing were honored, and an environmental exhibition was opened on the sidelines with the participation of a number of associations concerned with the environment. Soap products, cleaning materials, medicinal and aromatic herbs were displayed, in addition to pictures and paintings encouraging the care and protection of the environment.

It is noteworthy that the conference is being held in cooperation with the National Center for Energy Research, the Iranian Cultural Center in Lattakia, and the Reayati Agricultural Investment Company, and during its sessions, several topics about climate, biodiversity, chemicals, environmental cycles in nature, preservation of forests and water environments, radiation safety and renewable energies will be discussed.

The World Environment Day falls on the fifth of June every year.
