Several containers fell on the man, as the police in Darmstadt announced.
These were therefore stacked on pallets.
It was initially unclear how the accident happened in the morning in a specialist farm store in Heppenheim.
The police and the Office for Occupational Safety at the Darmstadt Regional Council began investigations.
