Thomas Gottschalk without a blond mane, that initially sounds like cappuccino without milk foam.

But after decades with the lovingly staged, long curls, the entertainer now wears his hair short.

In an interview, the 72-year-old has now revealed how - or through whom - he got his new look.

"I have Karina to thank for the new styling," Gottschalk told the "Bild" newspaper.

“She says it makes me look younger, and everyone agrees with her.”

"I don't look like a retired rock star anymore"

Gottschalk introduced Karina Mroß as his new girlfriend in May 2019.

In March 2019 it became known that the former "Wetten, dass ..?" moderator had separated from his wife Thea after almost half a century.

"I don't look like a retired rock star anymore," Gottschalk says happily about his new look.

The newspaper published a picture of the couple in a convertible, where Gottschalk's new hairstyle can be clearly seen.

Already in the Jesus musical "The Passion" Gottschalk could be seen in April without curls with shorter hair.

In »Die Passion – Live«, several actors and singers re-enacted the Passion of Jesus in a modern version using German pop songs.

The former "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" winner Alexander Klaws played Jesus, Gottschalk acted as the narrator.

Even if the curls are gone now, nostalgic Gottschalk fans have reason to be happy.

The showmaster continues with »Wetten, dass..?«.

Also this year and next year there should be an edition of the show that was actually discontinued.

ZDF justified this by saying that the response to the anniversary show in November, which was seen by more than 14 million people, was "overwhelming".

The first "Wetten, dass...?" show aired in February 1981.

It was moderated by Frank Elstner, the inventor of the format.

Gottschalk then took over the role of moderator with interruptions from 1987 to 2011 before he was finally replaced by Markus Lanz.
