(ANSA) - NEW DELHI, JULY 21 - Droupadi Murmu, 64, candidate of the NDA majority coalition, won the Indian presidential elections.
Murmu will be India's 15th president and first born into a tribal community, as well as the second woman to fill the largely ceremonial role.
The new president, who is from the Santhal tribe, won victory thanks to the support of more than half of the electorate of state parliamentarians and legislators, as shown by the partial results released by the electoral commission.
