Smoke Screen: The Truth About Cigarettes in "Big Brother" | Israel today

2022-07-21T15:06:10.918Z

How long are disproportionate screams because of "Big Brother" cigarettes? • You may choke on the answer

The current season of Big Brother has broken decibel records that have not been heard for a long time, not even in reality.

If there's one thing that's clear in this tough season of the network's flagship reality show, it's not that much is needed to make the occupants of the house quarrel.

Another understandable thing is that although the issue arises about every year, this time the preoccupation with cigarettes is excessive and significantly higher than in previous seasons.

The highlight came this week at Riva's screaming show, which did not receive her 30 grams of tobacco.

The result: exaggerated and disproportionate screams that span almost an entire episode.

Not to be outdone, "Big Brother" is based on exactly these moments, and all purists, or complaining spectators, or those who do not watch and only bring up a story that opens with the words "We do not watch, but ...", are invited to move on to the next page.

Still, reality addicts in general, and the format in particular, know that there is a big problem here that is not condemned enough in the broadcast and illuminated in the most wrong light.

Because in practice, the production is content with A4 pages with the caption "Smoking is harmful to health", and Channel 26 has a similar message once in a while.

Simply put, nothing significant that somehow signifies taking any responsibility for what is broadcast on screen.

There have been educational attempts in the past that have prevented tenants from smoking in the yard.

The result: the cute idea was discontinued after the quarrels and connections and conversations between the tenants dropped significantly.

TV's job is not to educate, but when it comes to the most viral and talked about show on the net, and which airs during the summer and the big holiday, the "Big Brother" is still expected to intervene.

How to intervene?

Condemn the fuss, reduce screen time around the subject and at best not include cigarettes in the budget, but then it's already sinning in a format that requires quarrels over cigarettes, and the chances of that happening are less than the chance that Riva will stop smoking.
