Five rescue helicopters brought the children and an adult to clinics, said the operations manager of the Hamelin fire brigade.
A child died in a fire in an apartment building in Hameln (Lower Saxony), four others were injured, some seriously, according to the fire department.
The children suffered burns and smoke inhalation.

Residents stood at the window of the burning house
Already on the way, the firefighters saw massive smoke rising from an apartment in the apartment building, said the operations manager.
Some residents stood at the window, whereupon first responders tried to rescue them from the house with a ladder.
When the rescue workers arrived at the house near downtown Hamelin on Saturday afternoon, according to the fire department commander, there were still three people in the building.
All were taken out of the burning house.
The fire brigade was on site with around 70 emergency services.
The extinguishing work was completed by Saturday afternoon.
A spokeswoman for the Hamelin-Pyrmont Police Inspectorate said officials were still collecting information about the fire.
Details of the injuries and the cause of the fire were not yet known.
