A young person traveled more than 150 kilometers on the Autobahn in a bus before he was finally stopped by the police in Kassel.
The operator of a bus company from Hanover reported on Monday evening that a bus had been stolen from the company's depot, the police in Kassel said on Tuesday.
According to the built-in GPS transmitter, the vehicle should be on Autobahn 7 near Kassel.
A patrol of the highway police discovered the bus at the Kassel-Mitte intersection and stopped it at a truck stop, it said.
According to the police, a 17-year-old from Hildesheim in Lower Saxony was behind the wheel without a driver's license.
How he got the key to the bus and why he made his way south is still completely unclear.
No one was injured during the journey, and the bus was also undamaged, the investigators said.
The young person now has to answer on suspicion of theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving without a license.
