Her story sounds like something out of a bad sitcom: According to consistent reports, a woman in the Thai capital Bangkok had to stay in her bathroom for three days.
According to information from the AFP news agency and the Thai PBS World news website, the woman, who lives alone, went to her bathroom on Monday evening and locked it.
When she tried to open the door again, it got stuck.
In her panic, the woman broke the doorknob.
Sister reported her missing
"Her sister couldn't reach her for three days, so she went to the police," police spokeswoman Chanchai Sonsiang told AFP.
The woman's sister finally reported the 54-year-old missing to a police station in the Phra Khanong district on Thursday.
When the police arrived, the 54-year-old's apartment door was locked from the inside.
However, the officials gained access and freed the resident from her predicament.
According to the police, the woman was doing relatively well and did not have an examination in the hospital.
However, the fact that she suffered from fear of death during her captivity was revealed by the bathroom walls: the 54-year-old had written down her last will with cosmetics on it.
As the police said, the 54-year-old survived thanks to water from the tap.
