The identity of the dark lord Sauron is one of the great mysteries in the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Has it already happened?
Is he secretly an already known character?
The First Age ended with the defeat of the dark ruler Morgoth, leaving his successor, the wily warlock Sauron, to continue his fight for evil.
Of course, fans of JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings know that the second dark lord will cause trouble especially in the Third Age of Middle-earth... But what is he doing in the Second Age before the Rings of Power are forged?
And who is he in the Amazon series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power set in this era?
Has he already appeared in the form of a more nondescript character?
As with the Stranger, we've come up with five theories as to what mystery might lie behind it.

Theory 1: The stranger
The fact that the stranger played by Daniel Weyman, who ends up with the Hobbit ancestors of the Harfuss via comet, could be Sauron was already formulated in our theory article about the character.
We're more hoping that he's one of the wizards, but the fact that his crater takes the shape of a burning eye, the detail that his fire is cold (like in the Evil Fortress or the heated One Ring later), as well as the killing of fireflies by magic are not good omens and make him suspicious.
You can read four more theories about who Sauron could be at serial junkies.de.
