The investigators have identified the body of a man who was found by a walker in lentil court near Hanau over the weekend.
The Hanau public prosecutor and the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse said it was a 25-year-old from Gelnhausen.
After the autopsy, the investigators "assumed it was a homicide," according to a statement.
A walker discovered the body near the train tracks on Saturday.
The criminal police set up a working group to investigate further.
