The 28-year-old, who ran towards the Queen's coffin last week, touched it and thus disturbed public order, was apparently suffering from delusions, as reported by The Guardian.
Accordingly, he was convinced that the Queen was not dead.
Prosecutor Luke Staton said the man wanted to get in touch with Elizabeth II.
The suspect said he still doesn't believe the Queen is dead.
The man was released on bail to remain in a psychiatric hospital until the next court hearing on October 18.
