She has just graduated from the "Bernardo Buontalenti" Professional Institute of State Services for Food, Wine and Hospitality in Florence with 85 out of 100 and now dreams of becoming a pastry chef, but Antigona, 20, has been in a coma for months.

Her condition was considered desperate by the doctors and only her great willpower and the closeness of the professors and companions brought her back to recover and even pass the state exam that she had not been able to obtain in June.

A story with a happy ending, that of this girl, who, however, is still facing long rehabilitation treatments.

She had to take the same maturity exam by dictating the theme - she chose a track on bullying - to the Italian teacher, as she is not yet able to write.

On April 28, the girl, who was attending the last year of high school, while doing a not heavy exercise during the physical education class, felt ill, collapsing on a classmate with a cyanotic face.

She was having a heart attack and teachers and janitors, who immediately intervened, called for help, pending which the intervention of the institute's vice president, Professor Francesco Trapani, who gave her a heart massage and mouth breathing was crucial. by mouth up to

arrival of 118. "I didn't save her, she was saved by the fact that courses are organized here to learn how to manage these situations", the teacher later said.

On the way to the hospital, the girl had a new heart attack.

She was immediately operated on but soon she entered a deep coma that seemed irreversible.

"We were all cheering for her - says the principal, Professor Maria Francesca Cellai - but the doctors said that the situation was desperate".

The girl did not recover in time to take the final exams, which took place only two months later, but on August 1st, to everyone's joy, she unexpectedly woke up.

As required by the ministerial regulations, the chairman of the high school exams commission, Professor Sergio Berardi,

he set up an extraordinary session for her during which the young woman sustained her maturity.

Antigona now aims to train to be a chef or pastry chef, once her rehabilitation is over.

And she will do it too thanks to a scholarship that has just been awarded to her by the Spi-Cgil.
