Nearly 3,000 people were arrested in Tehran in over 10 days of protests over the case of Mahsa Amini,
the 22-year-old who died while in the custody of the moral police who had detained her for not wearing the veil properly.
This was announced by IranWire citing sources among the families of the arrested people according to which the prisoners are in various prisons in the Iranian capital but also in other buildings.
According to the Irna news agency, 12 people were arrested today by the Revolutionary Guards in Gilan province on charges of holding secret meetings to organize violent protests.
Demonstrations against the Iranian authorities erupted after Mahsa Amini's death and were held in various cities across the country.
According to the Oslo-based group Iran Human Rights, 76 people were reportedly killed during the police crackdown on
protesters while the independent American organization Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and Reporters Without Borders denounced the arrest of 18 journalists.
