Seven terms to know and 7 fundamental questions to start a vegan diet - Lifestyle

(HANDLE)

Here are 5 "unusual" foods that omnivores should steal from vegans to add flavor and health to their diet, reported by CiboCrudo, the leading Italian plant-based and raw food brand on the occasion of World Vegan Day on November

1st 1. Yeast in flakes:

it is an inactive brewer's yeast, so you will not need it to leaven the pizza, but it is a real food supplement to spread on the dough.

For many vegans it is the main substitute for Parmesan but rather than making comparisons it is better to taste it.

How?

In addition to sauces, pasta with legumes, minestrone, soups, or even used as a base for sauces.

It makes the flavors more rounded and gives creaminess with few calories.

2. Kombu seaweed

: it is a seaweed that is used in vegetable cooking with legumes, to make the skin softer and the flavor rounder.

Rich in iodine, CiboCrudo's Organic Kombu Seaweed comes from the unpolluted seas of Brittany and is harvested with ancient traditional methods;

subsequently they are left to dry in the sun, so that their natural properties are not altered.

3. Agar agar:

it is a red algae from which a natural thickener is extracted which makes it possible to prepare puddings and other traditional recipes in a lighter and more natural way.

A healthier alternative to the classic isinglass - jelly made with bones and cartilage - allows us to create, among other things, fruit kanten, sweet jellies that are the protagonists of macrobiotic cuisine.

4. Vegetable “cheeses”:

quotation marks are mandatory because, by law, the only products that we can call this way are made from animal milk.

Still, plant-based alternatives exist and are good too.

Above all, they are often healthier and less caloric, as well as easily achievable at home.

An idea?

Prepare a vegetable ricotta starting from the cashews soaked in water for 4 hours, rinsed and blended together with lemon juice, salt and nutritional yeast.

5. Matcha soy latte:

Green, delicious and loved by influencers all over the world for its instagrammability, it is a precious drink made with matcha tea, a star among superfoods: it has the same energizing effect of coffee but has numerous antioxidant properties and 6 times the vitamin C of a lemon.

Rich in mineral salts, it also has an invigorating action and allows you to bypass the classic "withdrawal" effect that is typical of coffee.

Many bars offer it to their customers, but all you need is a milk frother and powdered matcha tea and you can also make it at home.
