She wasn't the favourite, but she won.

The Lyonnaise Brigitte Giraud won the Goncourt 2022 on Thursday with "Vivre vite" (Éd. Flammarion, 208 p., 20 euros), a strong text which returns to the drama which turned her life upside down: the death, in 1999, of her husband, in a motorcycle accident.

The author lists the elements that led to this tragedy and above all, in a “what if” mode, those which, if they had turned out differently, would have prevented the death of the man in her life.
