Amnesty International fears that at least 10 people, including children, were killed in Iran today after security forces opened fire on protesters in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan.

The protests erupted after Friday prayers in the provincial capital of Zahedan, but also in other areas of the province, including the city of Khash to the south.

Amnesty accused the security forces of firing "live bullets" from the roofs of Khash's official buildings.

"It is feared that the crackdown has resulted in the deaths of at least 10 people, including children," Amnesty added.

In parallel, the Norwegian-based group Iran Human Rights (Ihr) released a video showing bloodied people being taken away, stating that "many were killed and wounded in Khash", with security forces firing from rooftops.

The London-based Baloch Activists Campaign (Bac) said security forces fired "with intent to kill" and hospitals were full of wounded.
