Whatsapp Features: Polls, Video Calls and Communities - This is new

The popular messenger Whatsapp is launching three functions at the same time.

A major innovation are so-called “communities”.

This is what users expect.

Kassel – New functions are regularly introduced at Whatsapp.

But now users can look forward to fundamental innovations in Messenger.

In addition to a survey tool, changes in video calls, a completely new function is introduced: "Communities".

With updates, WhatsApp not only fixes errors, but also installs new features.

One of them affects users who frequently engage in group chats with friends or family.

Agreements should soon be made much easier with a survey function, as this should capture the general mood of the group participants.

In addition, it should soon be possible to create groups with over a thousand members.

It was only this year that Whatsapp launched a long-awaited function with an update.

The number of participants in video calls will also be increased considerably.

So far, a maximum of eight users have been able to participate.

In the future, this should be possible with up to 32 people.

The biggest innovation, however, is the introduction of so-called "communities", which is being rolled out worldwide.

"We are currently working tirelessly on the development," says a message from the messenger.

Communities are designed to bring multiple groups together but still remain separate from each other.

What is written in a group stays in that group.

According to Whatsapp, admins can also send important messages to all members of the community.

This is how it should work:

• The new communities tab is displayed in the "Chats" menu (at the top of the screen on Android and at the bottom of the screen on iOS)

• If you tap on it, you can create a new community or add existing groups

Businesses, families, or neighborhoods can use it to more easily organize and structure conversations in one place.

So you have all the groups that can be assigned to a community at a glance.

"With communities, we want to raise the bar on how companies communicate privately and securely with each other," writes the company.

But patience is still required: It is not yet clear when the function will be available on smartphones.

Whatsapp's blog post entry states that it should be "available to everyone in the next few months".
